Both in his editorial work and his larger posters, Josh Cochran‘s scenes always have something to look closer at. Whether illustrating the bloodied battlefield in the war between zombies and unicorns or Britney Spears discovering Twitter, the images are packed full of miniature details. Particularly in his larger pieces, it’s obvious that a lot of care and attention has gone into conjuring up his humorous little characters.
The settings are put together with his joyful, free pencil drawing and punctuated with bold splashes of colour. He often restricts his palettes to only a few thought-out shades, giving a bold, graphic feel to his work, which lends itself nicely to screen printing.
Here are a few examples taken from his editorial work and posters, but a wider range of projects can be seen on his website. You can find his designs on books, bags, and furniture, having recently adorned an Eames rocker for Herman Miller, curated by Hello Design.
