Inspired by botany and the pre-raphaelites, Melissa Haslam has created a romantic world populated by beautiful girls. She is also influenced by fashion photography, which, although clothes often take a back-seat in her pictures, adds a modern twist to the ethereal images.
Melissa uses oils on canvas or wooden panels, as well as pencils. I love the care and detail she uses, particularly in the botanical elements of her pieces.
Having completed a degree in Computing (Multimedia Technology), Melissa returned to university to take a course in Visual Arts, which has led her to the career she has today. Looking at her gorgeous work, I can’t help but think she made the right decision.
