Here are some stunning photos taken by recent University of Brighton graduate, Davy Evans. It’s fun to try and work out what is going on before you know exactly how the iridescent swirls and metallic ripples were captured. For me, there’s something quite alien and magical about them. Here, Davy tells us more about the project and how these floating worlds were found in places quite ordinary and seen every day.

My projects begin by collecting primary source material, which is predominantly photographic. I enjoy experimenting with a more hands on approach to image making, with little or no computer interaction.

The project titled ‘////’ on my website is an example of this. ‘////’ was created by mixing household items in water and filming the reactions with a macro lens.

Growing up in rural west Wales has given me a keen interest in the outdoors. Although I currently live in Brighton where I have just graduated, Wales is still my favourite place to photograph.
