As part of a proposal for fashion brand, Furla, Boya Latumahina aka Zippora Lux, created these delicate collages that pay homage to Italian womanhood. We like the movement from almost ethereal images that evoke ideas of spirituality, to the contrasting themes of sexuality and luxury.
While, the repeated images are quite trippy, the theme of sexuality continues in her self-initiated project, ‘Killing Your Darlings’. It’s a beautiful mash up and exploration of anatomy, where the distinction between different body parts is blurred.
On the project she says, “A self-initiated study on the body and its shapes. The work emphasizes the physical discoveries we make in the mental transformations that we undergo as we experience love, pain, growth and wonder and what happens during the rare but valuable occasion of experiencing them all at the same time. Project is in progress”.
“I design, take pictures of whatever, draw on things, fold/sew/rip/cut/break stuff, I try to do whatever I feel is the best thing to do at any given moment with whatever medium seems most suitable.”
“I use pictures, magazines, books, fabrics, marker pens, happiness, anger, cats, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, other people, sketchbooks, Post-its, walls, hip hop, punk, jazz, classical music. I do it with collage, photomontage, editorial design, typography, photography, illustration. Sorry if this is vague, I’m random like that.”
