This series of colourful illustrations are part of an ongoing project by Portugal-based, Marta Monteiro.
The images are inspired by the Lilliputians of ‘Gulliver’s Travels’ by Jonathan Swift. We really like the use of scratchy, overlaid transparency to blend colours. The ladies themselves are pretty fun (and mischievous), too! Who’s not eaten spaghetti and imagined what it’d be like to play tug o’ war with, right? The regular, human-sized Marta lives in Penafiel, where she works as a teacher, illustrator, animator and film director.
