Charles Bergquis is a director, designer and photographer from San Diego, California. We were taken by the diversity of the beautiful images he creates in high quantity in his ongoing project, ‘Everyday Project‘. Photos and video snippets capture the summer haze and iridescent surfaces along the coast. They’re selections from his daily experiments with images and motion tests, which he has been doing for many years.
Using cutting-edge techniques, art and motion direction company, Plenty bombard our senses with this wonderful, visually intense opener for an IDN magazine DVD. 3D projections are used to make patterns dance around in neon vibrancy as shapes seem to morph and disappear in front of our eyes.
We really like the thickly-laid patterns and the play with layering in Ben Phe’s work. Building on qualities found in screen printing, such as offset layers and moiré patterns created by the interaction between sets of parallel lines, Ben paints onto panes of glass to explore and develop this technique.
Light paintings, light art or ‘light graffiti’ is an artistic form that hasn’t been covered on Ape on the Moon, and, after seeing the vibrant and straight up inspiring work of UK-based artist Sola, I was excited to include it.
