Assaf Benharroch’s background is in animation, but he has continued to work on his own illustration style. The results are these lush, textural images that bring in his interest in printing techniques with which he has been experimenting.
We really like the more painterly feel in Assaf’s work that is used along with the more stripped-down, simpler forms. His work especially comes alive when he goes all out with multitudes of tactile marks and grainy brush strokes.
This exotic illustration is a good example with its abundance of thriving fauna and mixed media.
I’m a 35 year old illustrator, living in Kibbutz Galon, Israel, with my wife and three sons.
I studied animation at Minshar for Arts in Tel Aviv. Immediately after graduating in 2008, I started working as an animation designer, specializing in environments.
I began developing my personal style of illustration simultaneously, working on several projects of my own in addition to freelance work. My journey included experimentation in several techniques such as screen printing and Lino cutting.
At the moment my main technique is digital, using Adobe Photoshop.
I’m an art director in a small animation studio in Tel Aviv called Pil Animation and I teach Photoshop for Illustrators in Shenkar College of Engineering and Design.
I aspire to be a full-time freelance illustrator with my own studio, working for all those fun and wealthy clients out there… Amen.
