Emphasising the Beauty in the Rough in Benoit Tardif’s Illustrations

November 27, 2013 |

Author: Philip Dennis

Benoit Tardif mixes the grittiness and spontaneity of loose, sketchy drawings with the immediate impact of stripped down shapes and minimal palettes. As much as you get the sense of energy and rawness in his work, a closer look reveals the intentionally unaligned edges and carefully placed ink splats that are used to enhance the beauty in the imperfections.
