A Hand-drawn Feel in Illustrations and Animations by Dave Prosser

June 13, 2014 |

Author: Philip Dennis

Dave Prosser is an illustrator and animator based in London. After having graduated from the Royal College of Art, Dave’s work in animation has won him many international awards and accolades, including a BAFTA nomination.

No matter what techniques he is using in his films or the custom style he has designed to suite a particular feature, we like that Dave carries the hand-drawn feel of his illustration through to his animation work. The Sketchy, pencil textures he adds work well with the purposefully imperfect edges, which give his drawings and nice, cut-out look to them.

We take a look at some of his illustrations and two of his animations, including his BAFTA nominated  ‘Matter Fisher’, while he tells us a little more about himself and what he does.

I’m an animator and designer based In London. I’m represented commercially by Studio AKA and am a founding member of Moth Collective, a collective of friends who bloody love hand-drawn animation. I’m drawn to a bold and playful design aesthetic which revolves around character and narrative.
