New Exhibition of Pete Fowler’s Acrylic Paintings Opening this Week at Beach London

September 2, 2014 |

Author: Philip Dennis

Pete Fowler’s distinct brand of character design has made its mark around the world in the form of vinyl figures, record covers, apparel, art, and much more. Recently, Pete has been adding to the ever-growing range of work that he produces by applying his recognisable style to acrylic paintings.

We take a look behind the scenes while he prepares for his new show, ‘Unholy Mountain’ at Beach London, that opens this week as well as paintings from his show earlier this year and some of his other work.

As with all his work, you can expect Pete’s sense of playfulness to be present as well as some of the reoccurring themes that we see in his art. “Owl’s, synthesisers and nauticalia” are all promised elements that will be brought through into what he describes as his “most formal body of work thus far in his career” as well as being the most personal.

There is a quote by British artist and musician, Sexton Ming that Pete feels reflects the essence of the show.

“Everytime you smile, There’s a skull under your face.”

Unholy Mountain opens 5th September 2014 at Beach London, 20 Cheshire Street, E26EH. Visit the gallery website for more information.
