Joyful Characters and Lots of Fun Illustrations by Andy J. Miller

October 10, 2014 |

Author: Philip Dennis

If you’ve spent any time watching Nickelodeon or Nick Jr. recently, you may have caught a glimpse of some of the short snippets featuring the illustrations of Andy J. Miller.

If not, it’s lucky for you that we have the joyful and wonderfully silly animations here for you to check out as well as more of his great work.

Andy is an American illustrator and, as well as character design, does a whole range of other stuff like editorial, advertising, book illustration, murals, and various other kinds of design. Whatever field is working in at any given time, his work always carries the uplifting sense of playfulness.

It’s simplest to say that his work is just plain fun, and you can’t help being swept along for the colourful ride with all his oddball characters. He tells us more:

I consider myself first and foremost an illustrator these days, doing mostly editorial and advertising work. I describe my work as a mixture of clean graphics and dreamy atmospheres.

I’m always trying to develop a cast of iconic and loveable characters that reappear throughout my work. I often start work with a sketchbook and pencil, then move digitally with my Wacom tablet, laying out geometric vector shapes, then finishing them off with textures and Photoshop brushes.
