The polyhedral characters of Sivan Baron’s work occupy a colourful, digital landscape in which she stages her wonderful 3D illustrations. She takes us on a tour while she talks about her process and the development of her style.
You wouldn’t have to think too hard to guess that Sivan’s background is in animation. But working with the same techniques and tools as she would with moving images, she has created a visual character to her work that lends itself to her 2D images just as well, resulting in a highly modern-looking and fresh illustration style.
Sivan takes us through the tools and software she uses, and talks about developing a distinctive look.
My name is Sivan Baron and I’m an illustrator and 3D artist located in Israel.
I graduated from Shenkar College of Engineering and Design with a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, my major was Illustration. I also graduated from IAC (Israel Animation Collage) where I studied 3D and animation.
For the past few years I’ve worked with various clients and on different projects while simultaneously developing my own 3D illustration style, and changing my work direction a bit.
I start with a really rough sketch on my tablet in order to have some direction and composition guidelines, and after that I move to 3D software.
I like to use the 3D tools and techniques to create bright, colorful illustrations constructed from geometry-based shapes, and keeping the style graphic but with a twist.
